What is this case all about?
A court case was recently settled between a group of merchants and Visa, MasterCard, and issuing banks related to rising interchange fees. Merchants believed the fees rose unfairly, and in October 2012, both parties agreed to settle for more than $7 billion dollars. On December 13, 2013 the judge approved the allocation plan as “Final.” There are some appeals still pending, and there are specific settlement details that must be determined by the judge. Claim forms have not yet been issued.
So what should you do next?
If you were an active merchant between January 1, 2004 and January 25, 2019 you have three options:
Option 1: Do nothing. If you do not take action, you will not receive your financial compensation.
Option 2: File yourself by working with the official settlement administrator. For more information on how to collect your money,
Option 3: Partner with a recovery service to file your claim, like Brownstone Recovery Group. They have decades of experience doing this, that’s why we decided to partner with this proven recovery group. Brownstone Recovery Group’s areas of expertise are interchange fees and class action settlements. They’ll be able to help navigate the filing process on your behalf and utilize our in-depth understanding of interchange rules to help determine if your estimated recovery is appropriate and fair. And the best part — we do it while you’re focusing on what’s really important — your business.
A claim form is not yet available. Class members are not required to sign up for a third-party service like Brownstone Recovery in order to participate in any monetary relief, and “no-cost assistance” is available from the Class Administrator and Class Counsel. You can file yourself by going to www.paymentcardsettlement.com or by calling 1-800-625-6440.
